Inspector General of Police in Chhattisgarh, Pattilingam Sundarraj, confirmed that the operation was initiated after reliable intelligence indicated the presence of a large group of Maoists in the area. Security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the insurgents, marking a substantial blow to the Maoist rebel network.
