Chhattisgarh Congress Slams BJP Over ED Summons for Rajiv Bhawan Construction

The Chhattisgarh Congress has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government for deploying the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to issue summons regarding the construction of Rajiv Bhawan in Sukma district.

Congress Condemns ED Summons

State Congress Media Chief Sushil Anand Shukla called the ED’s action unjustified and politically motivated. He asserted that the Congress has maintained transparent financial records for the construction of its district office and that all income and expenditure details have been properly accounted for.

Shukla emphasized that Rajiv Bhawan was built through contributions from party workers and public donations during the Congress’s 15-year tenure in opposition. He added that this aligns with the party’s long-standing tradition of community-supported infrastructure development.

Historic Significance of Congress Bhawan

He further highlighted the historical importance of the Congress Bhawan in Raipur, which played a key role in India’s freedom struggle. The building was constructed using donations collected during the Chher-Chhera Punni festival, showcasing the Congress’s legacy of public-supported initiatives.

BJP’s Financial Transparency Questioned

Shukla challenged the BJP’s financial transparency, demanding an investigation into the funding sources of the BJP’s state headquarters, Kushabhau Thakre Parisar, which was built at an estimated cost of ₹150 crore. He questioned the origin of these funds and called for a thorough probe into the BJP’s financial dealings.

Allegations of Political Misuse of Agencies

He further accused the BJP government of misusing central agencies like the ED to target the Congress party. Shukla reaffirmed that, despite these challenges, Congress remains committed to financial transparency and democratic principles.
