The Delhi Police have solved a 15-year-old murder case. They arrested Narottam Prasad for killing his wife in 2010 and pretending it was a suicide. The accused was caught in Vadodara, Gujarat, after years of hiding.
Murder Hidden as Suicide
In May 2010, police found a 25-year-old woman’s decomposed body in her Jahangirpuri home. Neighbors had reported a foul smell from the house. A suicide note was found near the body, making it seem like the woman had ended her life.
Soon after, investigators suspected her husband, Prasad, who ran away right after the incident. He was later declared a proclaimed offender, and police announced a ₹10,000 reward for his arrest.
Breakthrough After 15 Years
In 2025, police received a tip-off about Prasad’s location in Gujarat. A team went to Chhota Udaipur and used technical surveillance to trace him. He had been working as a cotton factory manager under a false identity.
Confession and Motive
During questioning, Prasad confessed that he often argued with his wife after marriage. One fight turned violent, and he killed her in anger. To hide the crime, he wrote a fake suicide note and escaped.
Police Action
Prasad was brought back to Delhi for further investigation. Police said the case shows their commitment to solving old crimes and bringing justice, even after many years.
