CG Constable Recruitment 2024 Cancelled: SIT to Probe Alleged Irregularities and Tampering
The Chhattisgarh government has cancelled the Rajnandgaon Police Constable Recruitment 2024 following allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter thoroughly. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma has ordered a detailed inquiry, and the cancellation comes about a month after the process began.
Recruitment Irregularities Identified
According to reports, irregularities were detected during the recruitment process in the 8th Battalion of Rajnandgaon. An official stated that a case was registered on December 17 at Lalbagh Police Station, revealing tampering with marks in the physical efficiency test. The recruitment involved candidates from districts such as Rajnandgaon, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Kabirdham (Kawardha), and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadh Chowki.
Seven Arrested in the Case
Authorities have so far arrested seven accused, including four police constables, two event management employees, and a female candidate. Tragically, during the investigation, Police Constable Anil Ratnakar allegedly committed suicide. A note found on his palm hinted at lower-level employees being targeted while senior officials were shielded.
SIT to Investigate Suicide
Inspector General of Police (Rajnandgaon Range) Deepak Jha has directed the SIT to investigate Ratnakar’s suicide and submit a report within ten days. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg has assigned the inquiry into recruitment irregularities to Rajnandgaon City SP Pushpendra Nayak. However, Garg clarified that no official cancellation order has been received from the state government regarding the Constable Cadre Selection Examination 2023-24.
Tampering of Physical Test Marks
An internal investigation by Rajnandgaon Police uncovered tampering of marks during the physical efficiency test. This led to an FIR against unknown persons on December 16, 2024. On December 21, 2024, the body of Constable Anil Ratnakar was found hanging in Rampur village, further intensifying the probe.
Recruitment Details
The recruitment process aimed to fill 528 constable posts and commenced on November 16, 2024. Due to the discrepancies in test scores, the state government has now officially cancelled the recruitment process.
