AICC general secretary and Punjab incharge Bhupesh Baghel will visit Ludhiana on Sunday to campaign for Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu ahead of the upcoming Ludhiana Assembly bypoll scheduled for June 19.
High-Level Party Leaders to Join Baghel
To project a united front, key Congress leaders including Punjab Congress president Amrinder Raja Warring and CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa will also be in Ludhiana on June 15 and 16 as part of the campaign.
Internal Differences Still Visible
Sources suggest that senior Congress leader Harish Chaudhary, the former incharge of Punjab affairs, was also requested to support the campaign. However, Chaudhary confirmed he will not be visiting Punjab due to prior commitments in Madhya Pradesh, where he currently serves as incharge.
Party insiders revealed signs of communication gaps within the leadership, claiming that Warring and Bajwa were not being actively included in earlier campaign activities.
Other Senior Leaders Already in Action
A separate group of Congress leaders, including Rana Gurjeet Singh, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and Pargat Singh, have already been leading campaign efforts in various parts of Ludhiana.
Summary
As the Ludhiana bypoll nears, the Congress is intensifying efforts to rally support and present unity. While top leaders are expected to campaign together, internal group dynamics continue to reveal factionalism within the party.
